Birthday Party

Today we went to one of Olivia's classmate birthday party at her gymnastics place. Olivia had a lot of fun jumping on the trampoline practically the entire time. Enjoy the pictures. I will post again tomorrow her Easter pictures.

And yes... we did get Olivia's haircut today.

Nederland Heritage Festival

Having fun on the carousel that went forever!!!
Riding the "bee" ride!
Playing with the boys!
Olivia and Justin!
Strike a pose!
Olivia and Joel
Sitting with Uncle Rodney
Waiting for the parade to begin!

Olivia and packed up once again and went to my Mom's house this past Friday along with my nephews. We went because of my hometown's annual Heritage Festival. I love going mostly because of the food but I normally see people I went to school with or people I haven't seen in forever. They have carnival rides, carnival games, trade show and a parade. It is a lot of fun and I remember going every year growing up. Good times!!
Olivia only rode two rides. She rode the carousel and then the "bee" ride. She told me she didn't want to ride the "bees" but I made her and when the ride was over she said, "Mommy that was fun!" Mommy knows best.
I came home yesterday while she and my nephew Joel stayed. It is their Spring Break and mommy and daddy's break. Of course I miss her already but I am enjoying my time.

I can make thumbs!

Every Saturday Peter goes to the bakery to buy bread for the Sunday morning 8:30 communion service. So we all go to the bakery and once the bread was purchased Olivia had to hold the bread. So on the way home she keeps saying, "I can make thumbs.... I can make thumbs." We have no idea why she is saying this and don't look back at her. When we get home and settled Peter comes to me and tells me he knows now why she was saying "I can make thumbs." Check out the picture below.

I got a new job!!

I am very excited about my new job because it is at a high-end boutique here in Houston called Dimensions. I will be the bookkeeper. When I walked into the boutique for the interview I knew I was in trouble because the clothes are gorgeous. Of course I might be able to buy one thing every 4 or 5 months. I will get a discount but right now I am not sure how much.

The reason for leaving my current job (which I do enjoy) of course is money. I will be making more money but working less. My new boss did say that once I get the hang of things he will add more responsibilities like a some HR and to set up a new accounting program. Once I start the job I will be able to take Olivia to school everyday because the store doesn't open until 10:00 and I will probably have either one or two days off per week. It will take a little longer than my 3 minute commute but not much longer.

I am very excited and I will be staring on March 18th. Check out their new website. http://www.dimensions6100.com/

Olivia & Zoe

We spent Friday evening and Sunday evening with the Saksons this past weekend. Zoe and Olivia always have a great time together but will occasionally fight. Sherri and I said since we are not going to adopt anymore children Olivia and Zoe will be sisters. Trust me they fight like sisters sometimes but they are also very sweet with each other. They will hug and sometimes kiss when they see each other or leave each other.

Ann from Red Thread China

Below is a picture of items that are being sent to Olivia's orphanage in ZhiJiang Hunan China. There is a wonderful Chinese woman in Guangzhou by the name of Ann that will send items to your child's orphanage at any time of the year. Since most of the orphanages do not have heat and China has had their worst winter in decades we decided to contact Ann and have her send needed items to ZhiJiang SWI. Words cannot describe how it feels to be able to contribute in some way in helping where Olivia came from. It keeps us connected to her former world.

Ann will also be making a trip to ZhiJiang sometime in the Spring to get photos and information on Olivia's finding spot. Several of the families that have children from ZhiJiang have gotten together goals for Ann's trip and she will be there for about a week hopefully getting pictures of all the finding spots and pictures of ZhiJiang and we really hope she will be able to visit the orphanage as well. I am so excited about this trip. Since we were not able to visit the orphanage because it was about a 7 hour train ride we have no pictures of where she came from. I do have pictures of her in the orphanage before she came to us but I want to see what ZhiJiang looks like and really want to see where she was found.

Ann also has website business at http://store.redthreadchina.com/index.html. She sells shoes; dresses and so much more at very reasonable prices. I have purchased two dresses for Olivia and was very impressed how Ann kept in contact with me and how fast I received the package. So please check out her website. You won't be disappointed.

Happy Valentine's Day

This past Wednesday was Olivia's Father & Daughter Valentine's Day party at school. I volunteered so I got to go to the party as well. It was so cute seeing all the dad's and the kids together.
I know every parent thinks their child is the funniest and of course Peter and I think Olivia is the funniest child. At the Valentine's Day party Olivia was sitting next to one of the dad's and she turns to him with her hand sticking out and says, "Hello, I'm Olivia Miller. What is your name?" Peter and I just looked at each other. It was so funny. Where does she get these things from?
